Product Description

If there's only one wool jacket to have for winter time, this is the one.  This beautiful jacket is made from very high quality, finely processed boiled wool.  The jacket features a large, nicely fitting hood and has roomy pockets for hiding all sorts of goodies.  Large tagua nut buttons are designed to help tiny hands put on and take off the jacket.  The extended back section prevents the jacket from riding up and keeps baby's back nice and warm when bending over or being lifted into the air.  The hood, neck, and shoulders are lined with fine organic cotton.

This jacket is very unique because it is made from disana's boiled wool, which is a very special natural fabric.  Boiled wool is soft and light, so it is very comfortable for babies to wear.  Boiled wool also protects against cold, is almost entirely windproof, and balances hot and cold temperatures.  When wool is boiled, thousands of tiny air bubbles are trapped in by the material, forming an entirely natural barrier against hot and cold temperatures.  The result is a fabric that keeps your baby snug and dry while letting your baby's skin breathe.

*Please note that chocolate and plum have both been discontinued by disana, so once the remaining items are sold, they will not be restocked.*

Made by disana, this jacket is 100% organic boiled virgin Merino wool.  This wool is finely crimped, does not itch and feels soft and cozy against baby's sensitive skin.

Made in Germany

Sizing:  These jackets run a bit large, to accommodate for regular clothing underneath.  They are wide in the chest and long in the back.   Please contact us for specific measurements.

Care:  Boiled wool articles are easy to care for.  It should be cleaned very gently by hand.  The lanolin contained in wool protects the fabric from dirt and harsh environments.  If your boiled wool article does get dirty, you can shake or brush the dirt out very carefully.  If the boiled wool becomes stinky, just leave the article out overnight to air out, or in the bathroom while you shower (the humidity from the shower will help foul smells to disappear and will smooth out wrinkles).  If you do need to wash boiled wool, just wash by hand in tepid water using a mild wool wash.  Do not wring, squeeze, or rub wool.  Lay flat to dry.  You can read more here about wool care.  Don't forget your wool care products

  1. high quality 5 Star Review

We haven't worn this yet other then to try it on but I must say the craftsmanship of this coat is top notch. got the 12-24 for my 10 month old for this winter and I think the sizing will be perfect. The gray color has a brownish heather to it and is really a flattering color.

  2. nice coat 4 Star Review

I like the coat and my 3 yr old likes it too. I expected a little thicker fabric but it seems to be warm. I got a 4-6 yr size and for a thin 3 yr old child in 75 percentile height it fits fine even now (just long sleeves). I gave 4 stars because the collar/hood design is such that the top button pulls too much the fabric when the hood is down. The berry color is beautiful.

  3. lovely 5 Star Review

This jacket is lovely. I will say I ordered navy because the color looked rich and beautiful online but in reality it's just plain old navy. But still it's well made, not too bulky, generous sizing and cute. I'm planning to use for years to come for all future kids and I think the navy will be a good gender neutral color and dark to hide any dirt or stains. I just love wool and think this coat is darling.

  4. Lovely and Warm 5 Star Review

We got this coat in berry for our toddler and it is gorgeous (goes really well with the Hirsch Natur two-tones socks). The hood stays up over a winter hat even when running around! There is plenty of room for layers. The coat is not bulky, but it really holds in the heat. The wool is soft. The buttons are great for small hands. Our little one loves to wear this coat!

  5. Wonderful Quality 5 Star Review

Great little lightweight jacket; not at all bulky, but very warm. The hood is nice and deep, so it covers baby's head and keeps his neck covered. The wool is really soft, but seems like it will be quite durable. I purchased the 74/80 size for my 5 month old who is 15lbs and 26" tall; the fit is good and there is still room for him to grow. Love it!

  6. Love it! 5 Star Review

Really sweet jacket - and seems super warm although not bulky. Got the 6 - 12 month size for my 11 month old 16.5 lb daughter and it's really big on her, but not too big to wear, so it will last well. The hood is a good shape and stays on. And the jacket goes over everything and looks great!

  7. Traditionally good quality product 5 Star Review

The coat is good quality (as Disana never has disappointed me), the wool is densely woven, vivid color (I got it in red). The only thing is, that it is not fully lined, but thats probably for a reason (for wool to do its job and not be diminished by liner's properties). I got it for my daughter in size 12-24 mo, so can't wait to use it this winter.

  8. GREAT winter/snow coat 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Feb 2014

My son wears this coat almost every time we go outside! He's a large pot-bellied 20 mo old and the 12-24 mo size is starting to get short for him in the front while the sleeve length is perfect- so for us it fits true to size. I do love the longer length in the back and the partial organic cotton lining is DIVINE to the touch.

My favorite thing about the coat is its resistance to staining and dirt (not to mention water)! We have the grey color- Dirt literally brushes right off and EVERY stain has come out with our sheepish grins wool wash bar. The other day he spilled BEET berry smoothie down the front. Came home, rinsed, rubbed the wool wash bar in, let it sit, rinse and GONE!

Least favorite thing about the jacket is that the buttons do come undone fairly easily, which might be great if that's what you want, but for me is annoying as I am often re-buttoning the top buttons. Also, I cannot button the top one if he wears a thicker hat underneath.

We've worn it in the rain, the snow, and warmer temps. Perfect every time!

It is so soft and warm. It looks adorable too.

  10. wonderful jacket 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Nov 2013

I bought this jacket for my 18 pound 4.5 month old in the size 74/80 (6-12m). I'm very pleased with my purchase. The jacket fits well now and there is still plenty of room to grow. The hood is perfect size and lined with soft cotton. The blue color looks very cute. The boiled wool is wonderful, soft and warm and washes great. Thank you little spruce organics for bringing such quality German jackets to the US!
