This unique, handmade wooden block set is truly one of a kind.  Hand carved from solid pieces of a variety of hardwood, each rugged piece is a unique shape that preserves the structure of the original tree and nature's beauty.  The set includes 31 unique pieces, each piece a different shape and structure.  The set is comprised of a variety of small 'stumps' shaped like tree stumps, smooth stepping stones that can be stacked, one house tunnel (a solid piece of wood that has been carved into three separate pieces that fit together like a puzzle), a curved bridge, several flat boards, a 'wiggle puzzle' (a thick branch that has been carved into 2 separate pieces that fit together like a puzzle), a large hollow log, a large slab, and a large dome.     

Please note that because this block set is hand made, each block set is unique and no one block set is the same.  While each set contains the same basic pieces and the same quantity of pieces, the pieces may not look identical to those pictured.  That's what makes this set so special! 

Heartwood Arts was established in the early 1980's. The woodshop is situated on a organic/biodynamic/permaculture farm over looking the beautiful Clear Lake in Kelseyville, California.  The designer works amongst other artisans on the farm, supporting other businesses.  All of Heartwood Arts' toys are originals and the product of the designer's artist vision which has been influenced and inspired by Waldorf education.  Each toy is individually carved with a band saw and is unique.  

Each piece is made fom western pine and sanded smooth, finished with beeswax and organic flaxseed oil.   

Heartwood Arts' toys nourish the imitative and imaginative capacities of the unfolding child. Their natural finish is composed of beeswax and linseed oil.
