This lambskin by Kaiser of Germany is a wonderful item to have for a new baby. Kaiser uses MIMOSA tanning compound, which is extracted from the bark of the mimosa-tree, for the vegetable tanning. The sheepskins are not aggressively pretreated or dyed. The original pigment coating is preserved i.e., natural spots are not covered. The result is a natural shade of beige.
Lamskins have many uses as your baby grows. Lambskins can be placed in a stroller, crib, on the floor, on the changing table, in the family bed, or just about anywhere when you need a soft, cozy place for your baby to rest. A lambskin is a very soothing place for a new baby to sleep and also provides a soft, clean place for an older baby to play.
Kaiser of Germany is a small company nestled in the Bavarian Alps and has sold throughout Europe for 30 years. Kaiser follows strict environmental standards and keeps harsh chemical use to a minimum. These lambskins have a natural smell instead of a chemical smell. More importantly, you will protect your sensitive baby. The natural coloring of the lambskin is also left intact, so slight variations are to be expected.
In order to mimimize the usual chemical use durring tanning, rhe natural tanic substance of Mimosa requires more time to tan than chemicals but results in an more natural leather. This beautiful rug is lanolin rich and comes in a cotton sack instead of plastic.
Care: Sheepskin is a self cleaning agent and usually does not require a lot of care. Often spraying it with water and brushing it out will clean it sufficiently. Spot washing is also a great option. Otherwise hand washing is required. A small effort for the peace you have in knowing your baby is sleeping on the best nature has to offer. The Mimosa can be hand washed but does not handle machine washing as well as the regular sheepskin for baby.
Size: 85cm (3 feet long). Note: length and width will vary a bit as this is a natural product.

I bought this lambskin on 12/15/2013 when my daughter was born. It is beautiful, soft, and perfect. We laid her on it a lot as an infant and now she sits on it to read books and even enjoys laying down on it or running her hands through the wool fleece. It is still in perfect condition despite all the spit up that landed on it when she was little. We have never washed it. It wipes clean really easily.
