This children's blanket is very unique because it is made from disana's boiled wool, which is a very special natural fabric. Boiled wool is soft and light, so blenkets made from boiled wool are exceptionally comfortable against the skin. Boiled wool also protects against cold, is almost entirely windproof, and balances hot and cold temperatures, making this the perfect blanket for spreading across the grass for a picnic any time of year. When wool is boiled, thousands of tiny air bubbles are trapped in by the material, forming an entirely natural barrier against hot and cold temperatures. The result is a fabric that keeps you snug and dry while allowing your skin to breathe.
Measuring at 55.12 x 39.37 inches, this blanket is the perfect size for using as a blanket for a crib or child's bed or as an everyday blanket for indoor use or picnics out in the park. A good quality wool blanket is an essential item in any family's home.
Merino sheep down in southern South America provide one of the finest wools in the world. Disana's merino wool comes from a place where the landscape is rugged, the days dry and the nights cool. Sheep from this breed are known for their particularly fine, especially crinkly wool. This wool, and items made from it, are invitingly soft to the touch and incredibly light, with a fine gloss.
Merino wool is also especially suited to materials finished using the fulling process. The careful felting of the knitted fabric turns the particularly fine fibres and highly crinkled hairs of the wool into a very special material: disana boiled wool.
Weighing only about 520 grams per square metre, Disana boiled wool is exceptionally light. At the same time, it is wonderfully fluffy and thick, with a delightfully even, matte gloss appearance on its surface.
These fantastic qualities make disana boiled wool just right for disana's "At Home" collection of blankets.
Made by disana, this blanket is made from 100% organic boiled virgin Merino wool. This wool is finely crimped, does not itch and feels soft and cozy against baby's sensitive skin.
Made in Germany
Care: Boiled wool articles are easy to care for. It should be cleaned very gently by hand. The lanolin contained in wool protects the fabric from dirt and harsh environments. If your boiled wool article does get dirty, you can shake or brush the dirt out very carefully. If the boiled wool becomes stinky, just leave the article out overnight to air out, or in the bathroom while you shower (the humidity from the shower will help foul smells to disappear and will smooth out wrinkles). If you do need to wash boiled wool, just wash by hand in tepid water using a mild wool wash. Do not wring, squeeze, or rub wool. Lay flat to dry. You can read more here about wool care. Don't forget your wool care products!

I bought this particularly because it is high quality, light-weight, and warm for my 15 month old daughter but also because of the size. Some crib blankets are so tiny that I can't see them lasting long. This is such a perfect size! Enough to last when her bed turns into a regular toddler bed. While it won't fit a twin size bed (that would have been way too big for a crib) I'm definitely stealing it for a lap blanket on the couch when she outgrows the crib. The feel is super soft and not too thick. Also I didn't want something too heavy on her soft frame. Because it can't be cleaned easily though I do use it over an Aden & Anais cotton muslin dream blanket but it's definiteky soft enough to cuddle up to all on its own if germs don't freak you out too much.

I am head over heels for this blanket. It's truly worth every penny. Many would spend almost as much for a designer poly blanket / :
Disana's boiled wool is the best I've encountered. Truly itch free and so so warm and yummy to wrap up in! My son has this in his crib every night. We have also taken it on long car rides. He NEVER over-heats. It truly keeps you at the right temp (I can vouch for this as we have had many nap/cuddle sessions with it ( : ).
Now we just need to save up for the big size!

If they made one in adult size, I would buy it in a heart beat. (Though this one is big enough to be your throw blanket on the couch) Very soft, feels great against the body, nice border stitching...just quality all around. Big enough to last your child for years to come making it a very worth while investment.
